AML Foundations Six-Week Live AML Compliance Training Cohort
A six-week live cohort program for anyone building a career in AML/BSA compliance. Each week features roughly 60 minutes of instruction followed by 30 minutes of Q&A or hands-on workshop, with select sessions featuring guest speakers from the field.

Course Syllabus
Week 1 – BSA/AML Foundations & the Regulatory Landscape
- History and purpose of the BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, and AML Act of 2020
- The regulators: FinCEN, OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, and state agencies
- The five pillars of an AML compliance program
- Money laundering stages: placement, layering, integration
Week 2 – KYC, CDD & Customer Risk Rating
- Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements
- Customer Due Diligence and the Beneficial Ownership Rule
- Enhanced Due Diligence for high-risk customers (PEPs, MSBs, cash-intensive businesses)
- Building and defending a customer risk-rating methodology
Week 3 – Transaction Monitoring & Red Flags (includes hands-on alert investigation workshop)
- How monitoring systems work: rules, scenarios, thresholds, and tuning
- Alert investigation workflow from triage to disposition
- Typologies: structuring, funnel accounts, trade-based laundering, human trafficking indicators
- Documenting your investigative decision
Week 4 – SAR & CTR Reporting (includes live SAR narrative writing workshop)
- CTR requirements, exemptions, and aggregation
- When to file a SAR: the "know or suspect" standard
- Writing an effective SAR narrative (the 5 Ws)
- Confidentiality, timing rules, and continuing activity reviews
Week 5 – Sanctions, Fraud & Emerging Risks
- OFAC fundamentals: screening, blocking vs. rejecting, licensing
- Fraud vs. money laundering — where they intersect
- Crypto/virtual assets, fintech partnerships, and elder financial exploitation
- AI in compliance: opportunities and risks
Week 6 – Careers, Testing & Your Path Forward (capstone presentations)
- Independent testing and audit: what examiners look for
- Governance, training, and compliance culture
- Career mapping: analyst to VP
- Resume, interview prep, and capstone presentation
